Wedding hog roast for Wealdstone

How our wedding hog roast works in Wealdstone

A slow roast suits a wedding day that runs late: a cooked roast holds for a while, so the food copes with a delayed running order. Popular choices include spit-roast lamb, crackling and rotisserie chicken, and we’re regularly asked to cater small, informal weddings and evening receptions.

For a wedding in Wealdstone, the venue’s rules decide where a hog roast can go. A courtyard, garden or yard is ideal, and we’ll agree the details with them. We bring the roaster, the cover and everything we need to cook and serve, and we leave the spot tidy when we go.

However big or small the event in Wealdstone, a hog roast feeds a crowd well. We are frequently asked to cater:

  • Blessings and renewals
  • Evening food after the first dance
  • The day after the wedding
  • Weddings in a marquee

Headstone Manor Recreation Ground can make a pretty photo stop, but check its rules for wedding groups first.

What your quote should include

  • When payments are due and what happens if plans change
  • How long the roast takes and when they’ll arrive
  • Exactly what’s included in the price
  • Allergen information for every dish

Choosing a hog roast caterer

Space, access and the venue

The roaster needs the right spot, because it cooks outside for several hours, and a little planning goes a long way:

  • A short walk from the serving station to the guests
  • Light near the carving station after dark
  • Space well clear of tents and trees

As a London location, Wealdstone is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: tell us about side or rear access, steps and parking for our vehicle.

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

Popular choices

  • Halloumi skewers (V)
  • New potatoes
  • Roast or jacket potatoes

Your questions about a hog roast for your wedding in Wealdstone

What if our house in Wealdstone has no side access?

It depends on access: a rear gate or yard generally works. Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly.

We’re gathering after a service at Holy Trinity Church: can you cater?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Food is typically served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

Is there a non-pork option?

We can add lamb or chicken, plus halloumi skewers for vegetarians and a vegan burger or sausage. Halal meat isn’t something we offer.

When should we book?

Popular dates go early. But do ask even at short notice: fill in our quote form.

Can you do our evening wedding food?

Yes, evening food is very popular. Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling go down well after dancing.

Do you need power or water?

Not to cook, because the roaster is gas-fired. Tell us what’s available and we’ll plan around it.

Do we need our own staff?

No need for your own staff: we carve, serve and tidy up.

Where will the roaster go at our wedding?

We cook outside, never inside the marquee, and we agree the spot with your venue.

Should I cook it myself?

A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For bigger or more formal events, catering takes the pressure off.

Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.

Working with your venue

Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so check before booking. We’ll work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.

If you are planning an event on someone’s behalf, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, let us know who we will deal with on the day. We will keep you both updated.

Is a hog roast right for your wedding?

Next to a cold buffet, hot carved pork beats sandwiches every time late at night. Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so each one is itemised. A simple menu keeps the cost down.

What you get with us

The menu, dish by dish

Crackling

Long, slow roasting turns the skin into crackling, and there is a piece for everyone who wants it.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Our vegetarian option is halloumi and vegetable skewers: grilled halloumi with vegetables, in a roll or on a plate.

The process

The roaster cooks outdoors, under a gazebo on level ground, well clear of walls, tents and trees. We agree exactly where before the day. In Wealdstone, evening wedding food frequently coincides with dusk: sunset is around 8:55pm in late May, 9:20pm at midsummer and 7:05pm in late September. Festoon lights by the carving station look lovely in the photos.

  1. We start with your date, venue, numbers and running order.
  2. You get a check on the date and venue, and a quote.
  3. We agree arrival, cooking spot and serving times with you and your venue.
  4. We cook through the day and serve right on cue.
  5. Afterwards we tidy our area and leave you to the party.

Getting ready for the day

  • Send final numbers in good time
  • Tell us about narrow gates or side passages
  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
