A hog roast near Westminster

How our wedding hog roast works in Westminster

For the wedding breakfast, a hog roast becomes a plated meal: roast pork, crackling and a choice of sides, with china available on request. Typical bookings include second-day get-togethers and the main wedding meal, with crackling, salads and carved roast pork.

For a wedding in Westminster, the venue’s rules decide where a hog roast can go. Ask about a courtyard or garden, and we will agree the details with them. Timings are planned around your wedding, because the roast has to start hours before you eat.

Slow-roasted pork being carved by hand

A hog roast or other catering?

Compared with a cold evening buffet, hot rolls carved to order go down much better late at night. Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we’re on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.

Why book with us

  • Carved to order by a chef
  • Cooked on the day, low and slow
  • Sides to make it a full meal
  • Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling

See our pricing or our hog roast cost guide.

Should I cook it myself?

You could go for a cold buffet, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you, especially outdoors.

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You do the roasting and carving; we’ll confirm what comes with it when you ask.

About the food

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Some guests will be vegetarian, so halloumi and vegetable skewers ensure they’re not left with just salad.

Roast pork

Everything starts with the slow-roasted pork: carved thick or thin, as people like it, straight from the roaster.

What the cooking area needs

Before the day, it helps to think about where the roaster will go. The ideal spot has:

  • A short walk from the serving station to the guests
  • Clear space away from the marquee and any branches
  • Flat ground outside the reception for the roaster

Westminster is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access can be tight: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before you book.

Your questions about a hog roast for your wedding in Westminster

Can you get a hog roast into a London garden in Westminster?

Frequently, if there’s a rear gate, a front garden or a yard we can use. Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.

Can you do a hog roast in St James's Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, typically the council, and many parks do not allow cooking. Ask them first.

Who serves?

No need for your own staff: our chef carves and our team serves and clears.

How big a hog will we need?

We size the roast to your numbers, so tell us your best estimate. The quote sets it out.

Can we offer lamb too?

Of course: lamb and pork together give guests a choice.

How much does a hog roast cost?

Every booking is quoted individually, depending on numbers, menu, timings and travel. Tell us about your wedding for a quote.

Can you be flexible on serving time?

We will be as flexible as we can. Keep us posted on the day and we will adjust.

When do you start roasting?

A whole hog roasts for several hours, so we arrive well before you want to eat. We work back from your serving time.

Working with your venue

For workplace bookings, check with facilities about gas equipment and vehicle access. We work to the site’s rules.

Marquee hire companies frequently have rules about cooking near their tents, so tell them a hog roast is coming. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

How to compare hog roast caterers

The process

We get there well ahead of service, because a whole hog takes hours to roast. Your guests will smell it long before they see it. In Westminster, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it’s nearer 7:05pm, which means an evening hog roast is typically served in daylight in high summer. For autumn and winter weddings, when it’s dark by about 3:55pm in December, plan lighting at the carving station.

  1. You tell us your date, venue, numbers and whether it’s the wedding breakfast, the evening or both.
  2. We check the venue and the cooking spot and send a price.
  3. We fit our timings around your running order and the venue.
  4. We roast during the ceremony and drinks, then carve at the agreed time.
  5. Our staff clear the serving area and we leave quietly.

How to prepare

  • Make sure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day
  • Gather dietary requirements early

Looking after everyone

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Some ideas:

  • Share the menu with your venue coordinator
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen list
  • Count non-pork eaters, for lamb, chicken or a vegetarian choice
  • Request gluten-free rolls if needed

We’ll liaise with your venue coordinator, so we can sort the cooking spot and timings with them.

Gluten-free rolls can be provided for the evening food.

  • Slow-roasted on site for hours, outdoors at your event
  • Freshly carved pork with crackling, stuffing and apple sauce
  • Options beyond pork, including lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes
  • Served when you’re ready, and we tidy the serving area afterwards
