What a hog roast costs

We do not use a fixed price list, because every shoot is different. What matters most:

  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
  • Access to the cooking area
  • Plates or china
  • Travel to The Frenches

Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, along with distance and how easy the site is. Every booking is different, so we quote each one individually.

Getting an accurate quote

Good details mean a good quote. Useful details:

  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • Where the event is
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a picture
  • Any dietary needs or allergies

It’s easy to get a price: tell us when, where, how many and what time you’d like to eat. We’ll reply with a clear price and what’s included. Send us your details through our quote form.

The process

Rain doesn’t stop the roast, because we cook under cover. It’s worth planning a sheltered place for people to eat, too. By late September, sunset near The Frenches is about 7:10pm, so a late wrap needs lighting at base.

  1. Production sends us the location and call times.
  2. We confirm access and send a price.
  3. The roast starts early.
  4. We serve when lunch is called.
  5. We pack away straight after.

How to prepare

  • Give us final numbers a week or so before
  • Check there is nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster

How to get a price

The quickest way to get a price is to tell us the date, where the shoot is and roughly how many. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Send us your details through our quote form.

What comes off the roaster

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

Rolls make a hog roast easy to eat anywhere. We can bring gluten-free rolls if you ask.

Crackling

Crackling takes hours to get right, which is exactly what a slow hog roast gives it.

Working with your venue

If you’re booking for a workplace, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We’ll fit in with site rules.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Next to grilling to order, one roast serves everyone together. A hog roast is frequently good value for a crowd, because one whole roast feeds plenty of people. Extras, china and longer service add to it.
