How to compare hog roast caterers

Hog roast hire for your event in Brooklands

We roast the hog at your event, not in a kitchen miles away, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp when it is served. Add lamb, chicken or vegetarian options if you like. Whether it is summer garden parties and festive gatherings, we will put together a menu of spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken and halloumi skewers for your guests.

In a smaller place like Brooklands, a hog roast in the garden is often the simplest option: plenty of room, no hire fees and nobody stuck in the kitchen. Tell us about access down the drive or side of the house. We bring plates as standard, and china crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

Venues frequently have rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Check early, and tell us what they ask for.

For venues and planners, we can fit around your other suppliers, sharing timings and a site plan.

A closer look at the menu

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Not everyone eats meat, and halloumi skewers give them a proper hot option.

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Coleslaw is the natural partner for a pork roll, and salads and new potatoes work well on a plate.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

A little planning helps everyone eat safely. Here are a few tips:

  • Collect allergies with your RSVPs
  • Tell guests what’s on the menu in advance
  • Count anyone who doesn’t eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Ask us to keep the vegetarian food separate and labelled

You won’t need to worry about the food on the day. We arrive hours ahead, set up, roast, carve and serve, and our staff clear the serving area afterwards.

Gluten-free rolls are available on request.

Catered or do it yourself?

A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is normally easier.

Full catering or machine hire? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

How we price a hog roast

We work out each quote from:

  • Travel to Brooklands
  • Season and day of the week
  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken

A hog roast is often good value for a crowd, because one whole roast feeds plenty of people. Extras, china and longer service add to it.

Getting an accurate quote

  • A picture of the cooking area

Brooklands: your questions answered

What’s the nearest station to Brooklands?

Weybridge station, in Brooklands itself.

Is Brooklands close to London?

Roughly 19 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

How soon do you get booked up?

Summer Saturdays and December book up first. For other dates, a few weeks can be enough. Send your date and we’ll check.

Can we choose catered or DIY?

Either: we can cater fully or hire out the machine. Catering is the most popular choice.

Can you cater in Brooklands?

Yes, Brooklands is in our area. Send us the address and we will check the date.

What if things run late?

Because the roast takes hours, we plan from your serving time, and a cooked roast can be held for a while if things run late.

Can we just hire the roaster?

We do, if you are happy to roast and carve yourself. Ask and we’ll talk you through it.

Do you bring plates?

Plates come as standard. China crockery is available on request and quoted separately.

What happens on the day

We work to your timings. If things run late, a cooked roast can be kept hot for a while, so tell us as soon as plans change. Around midsummer it stays light in Brooklands until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so the cooking and serving area needs lighting.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. We check the date and the cooking spot, then send a quote.
  3. Timings and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. We roast slowly on site, then carve for your guests.
  5. Our staff serve and clear, then we pack away.

How to prepare

  • Gather dietary requirements early
  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage
  • Check there is a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps

How to get a price

It is easy to get a price: date, place, numbers and serving time. You will get a clear quote listing what’s included. Use our quote form.
