About our wedding hog roast in St James's
For the wedding breakfast, a hog roast becomes a plated meal: carved pork with salads, new potatoes or roast potatoes, with china available on request. We are often asked to cater late-night wedding food and wedding breakfasts with sides, serving new potatoes, spit-roast lamb and halloumi skewers.
Couples in St James's often hold the reception at a local venue or at home. The roaster needs an outdoor spot under cover, away from the building, which many London venues cannot offer, so ask early. We plan the timings around your day, working back from when you want to eat, so the food is ready at the right moment.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet
A common mix is a plated meal followed by an evening hog roast; others have the hog roast as the main event. Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so each one is itemised. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.

A closer look at the menu

Crackling is what people queue for: golden, crunchy and salty, straight off the hog.
Rolls and gluten-free rolls
Soft rolls hold the pork, stuffing and apple sauce together, perfect for eating on the move. Gluten-free rolls are available on request.
How we price a hog roast for your wedding
Things that change the price:
- The date and time of year
- Access to the cooking area
- Which meats and sides you choose
- How many people are eating
The main driver is numbers: the price per head generally falls as numbers rise, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.

Questions from St James's
What’s the nearest station to St James's?
London Charing Cross station, in St James's itself.
What if our house in St James's has no side access?
Frequently, if there is a rear gate, a front garden or a yard we can use. Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly.
Where does the hog roast go?
Enough level ground outdoors for the roaster and a serving table under cover, and a way to wheel everything in. Send us a picture if you’re unsure.
Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?
The roaster always stays outside, under cover, at a safe distance from walls and tents. We can frequently serve indoors if the venue agrees.
Is there a non-pork option?
There are lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. We don’t offer halal meat.
How big a hog will we need?
The roast is chosen to suit how many you are feeding, so tell us your best estimate. The quote sets it out.
What if things run late?
We’ll be as flexible as we can. Keep us posted on the day and we will fit around changes.
How much does a hog roast cost?
It depends on numbers, the menu and how long we’re on site. Send us the details and we’ll quote.
Full catering or machine hire?
DIY hire works best when someone in the family loves cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is usually easier.
Catered or DIY? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.
The process
A hog roast is always cooked outside, under a gazebo on level ground, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches. We agree exactly where before the day. In St James's, evening wedding food often coincides with dusk: sunset is around 8:50pm in late May, 9:20pm at midsummer and 7:05pm in late September. Festoon lights by the carving station look lovely in the photos.
- Share your date, venue, numbers and which meal you’d like.
- We check the venue’s rules and the date, then send a quote.
- We fit our timings around your running order and the venue.
- We roast during the ceremony and drinks, then carve at the agreed time.
- Our staff clear the serving area and we leave quietly.
Getting ready for the day
- Tell us about narrow gates or side passages
- Choose someone to meet us on arrival
- Have a covered area for eating in case of rain

- Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside the pork
- Served when you’re ready, and we tidy the serving area afterwards
