Eastfields in December: what to know

Eastfields is about 3 miles south-east of Wimbledon, in Greater London. Hosts in Eastfields book us for Christmas parties of all sizes. We cover all 764 towns and villages across Greater London, from the larger towns to small villages. You can also see our page for London, about 7 miles away.

If a church like St. Mark's Church is running a Christmas fair, hot pork rolls are a welcome sight on a cold evening. PTA Christmas fairs, for a school such as St Mark's Church of England Academy, suit a hog roast.

This part of Greater London takes in CR4, SW16 and SW17, so your Christmas party can be anywhere in it. Your Christmas party could be at a house on Bond Road, Hill Road and York Lane or the roads around them, wherever there’s an outdoor spot for the roaster. Neighbouring places where we cater Christmas parties include Mitcham (1 mile south), Hackbridge (1 mile south), Colliers Wood (1 mile north-west), Furzedown (1 mile north) and Merton Abbey (1 mile west). Further out, we also cater in London (7 miles north), City of Westminster (7 miles north), Marylebone (8 miles north), Kensington (7 miles north), St Pancras (8 miles north) and Shoreditch (9 miles north).

Choosing a hog roast caterer

Step by step

Expect a calm, organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, use the cooking spot you’ve chosen, and get on with roasting and serving. With sunset at about 3:55pm in December, most Christmas parties in Eastfields are after dark. The cooking area is lit; the route to it may need lights too.

  1. Tell us when and where the party is.
  2. We confirm the space and send a price.
  3. We set up in daylight and roast into the evening.
  4. Our chef carves and staff serve.
  5. We clear away whatever the weather.

Getting ready for the day

  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
  • Check there’s a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps
  • Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance

A hog roast or other catering?

Compared with a barbecue, slow roasting suits winter far better. Published UK guides give a wide range for hog roast catering, from around £10 a head for a basic roll to £20 or more with sides and service. Every event gets its own quote, with everything listed.

Why book with us

  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours
  • Our staff serve and clear
  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too
  • Carved to order by a chef

See our pricing and the cost guide.

Should I cook it myself?

Catered or DIY? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

Eastfields: your questions answered

Can you do a hog roast in Figge's Marsh?

Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Ask them first.

Which station is closest to Eastfields?

Mitcham Eastfields station, in Eastfields itself.

How early should we book for Christmas?

The earlier the better. Weekdays often have more availability.

Can you cater for vegetarians?

There are lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. Please note we don’t offer halal meat.

Can the food be served indoors?

We cook outside, but can generally serve indoors if the venue agrees.

Who serves?

Our chef carves and our staff serve, and we clear up when service is finished.

Can you cater outdoors in December?

Yes, the roast always cooks outdoors under cover. Plan a warm place for guests.

How much room do you need?

Enough level ground outdoors for the roaster and a serving table under cover, plus a step-free route to wheel the equipment in. Send us a picture if you’re unsure.

Planners, venues and businesses

If you are planning an event on someone’s behalf, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We will keep everyone in the loop.

If you are a venue or event planner, we are happy to work alongside your team.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

With a bit of planning, dietary needs are easier to handle. A few tips:

  • Remember stuffing normally contains gluten
  • Request gluten-free rolls
  • Find out who’d prefer turkey or chicken
  • Label alternatives clearly

Name someone to meet us, especially for an office party.

Add roast turkey for a traditional Christmas touch.

  • Roasted on site for several hours, outdoors under cover
  • Freshly carved pork with crackling, stuffing and apple sauce
  • Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
