Near Ascot, weddings are often in fields, barns or gardens. A hog roast is made for that: no kitchen, just level ground and cover. Let us know about access and ground. Everything we need to roast, carve and serve comes with us, and we leave the spot tidy when we go.

What a hog roast costs

A few things make the biggest difference to the price:

  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • The number of people
  • Whether you want china
  • The serving time and how long we’re on site

For larger numbers, a hog roast is generally good value, since one roast goes a long way. Extras, china and longer service add to it.

Details that help

Here’s what we will ask:

  • An estimate of numbers
  • What the outdoor space is like
  • Where the event is
  • Rules from the venue or landowner

To get a quote, just send us your date, venue and numbers. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Send us your details through our quote form.

What we serve, dish by dish

Spit-roast lamb

Lamb on the spit roasts gently for hours, carved to order at the serving station, often with mint sauce.

Roast pork

Slow-roasted pork is the heart of the menu: carved in front of you, a mix of shoulder and leg, and served hot.

How it works

Expect a calm, organised set-up. Arrival and serving times are agreed beforehand, use the cooking spot you’ve chosen, and roast, carve and serve without fuss. In Ascot, midsummer sunset is about 9:25pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:05pm, so evening food is often carved in daylight in June and July. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it’s dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. You tell us your date, venue, numbers and whether it is the wedding breakfast, the evening or both.
  2. You get a check on the date and venue, and a quote.
  3. Timings and the cooking spot are agreed with you and the venue coordinator.
  4. We roast during the ceremony and drinks, then carve at the agreed time.
  5. We clear away once everyone has eaten.

Before we arrive

  • Give us a contact number for the day
  • Think about shelter for your guests
  • Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance

Do you clear up?

Our staff clear up after service, and leave the area tidy.

How do you work out quantities?

We size the roast to your numbers, so tell us your best estimate. The quote sets it out.

Can a hog roast be our wedding breakfast?

Many couples do exactly that, with lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside.

A hog roast compared with other options

Next to other evening food, carving serves a lot of people fast. Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. A long, slow roast means an early start, and the quote reflects that.

How to compare hog roast caterers

Catered or do it yourself?

Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.

If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You do the roasting and carving; we’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

  • Cooked where you are, slowly, over several hours outdoors
  • Carved by our chef into rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Options beyond pork, including lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes
  • Staff to serve at the agreed time, then clear away
