A hog roast near Epwell

Wedding hog roast near Epwell

Not every guest eats pork, so we plan for that: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers and a vegan option. We don’t offer halal meat. Whether it’s vow renewals and blessings and the day after the wedding, we’ll put together a menu of rotisserie chicken, crackling and halloumi skewers.

Near Epwell, weddings are frequently in fields, barns or gardens. A hog roast is made for that: no kitchen needed, just an outdoor cooking spot. Let us know about access and ground. The carving happens right in front of your guests, so every roll gets hot pork and a piece of crackling, and nothing sits in a hot cabinet.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Compared with pizza or other evening vans, carving serves a lot of people fast. Published UK guides give a wide range for hog roast catering, from around £10 a head for a basic roll to £20 or more with sides and service. Every event gets its own quote, with everything listed.

Why book with us

  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too
  • Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it
  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours
  • Carved by our chef in front of your guests

What a hog roast costs

We do not use a fixed price list, since every event is different. The main factors are:

  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • Whether you want china
  • Site access
  • Distance from us

Distance is part of the price: we include travel in the quote. Give us the address for an accurate figure.

Getting an accurate quote

For a quick, accurate price, tell us:

  • Where the event is
  • Your date and serving time

Looking after everyone

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Some ideas:

  • Note which guests don’t eat pork, for lamb, chicken or a vegetarian choice
  • Remember that stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen list
  • Ask about dietary needs on your RSVP card
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests

Our staff serve and clear quietly, and leave you to celebrate.

Your questions about a hog roast for your wedding in Epwell

Do you come out to small places like Epwell?

No, we come to small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

We are gathering after a service at Church of St Anne: can you cater?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is usually elsewhere. Send us the address.

How long does the roast need?

Several hours, depending on the size and the weather, so we arrive well before you want to eat. We plan the timings from when you want to eat.

Is crockery included?

Plates come as standard. China crockery is available on request and quoted separately.

What about coeliacs?

Ask for gluten-free rolls and we’ll bring them. You’ll get allergen details for everything.

How much does a hog roast cost?

It depends on numbers, the menu and how long we are on site. Tell us your date and we’ll send a price.

What space does the roaster need?

Enough level ground outdoors for the roaster and a serving table under cover, plus a step-free route to wheel the equipment in. Send us a photo if you are unsure.

Can we add a second roast?

Of course: lamb and pork together give guests a choice.

Spit-roast lamb

With lamb as well, there are two roasts to choose from, which suits bigger events.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Not everyone eats meat, so halloumi and vegetable skewers make sure they’re not left with just salad.

Organising for someone else?

What the cooking area needs

Before the day, it helps to think about where the roaster will go. We look for:

  • A level spot near, but not too near, the marquee
  • A serving area close to where guests eat
  • Clear space away from the marquee and any branches

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before you book.

The process

On the day, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. It then roasts slowly for several hours, worked back from your serving time. For a summer wedding in Epwell, the sun sets at about 9:30pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so evening food is often carved in daylight in June and July. For autumn and winter weddings, when it is dark by about 3:55pm in December, plan lighting at the carving station.

  1. We start with your date, venue, numbers and running order.
  2. We check the venue and the cooking spot and send a price.
  3. We agree arrival, cooking spot and serving times with you and your venue.
  4. We roast during the ceremony and drinks, then carve at the agreed time.
  5. Afterwards we tidy our area and leave you to the party.

Before we arrive

  • Gather dietary requirements early
  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day
  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage
