Wedding hog roast near Ruscote
We work with your venue on the cooking spot, timings and access, so on the day everything is in place. We are frequently asked to cater farm weddings and wedding breakfasts, serving rotisserie chicken, carved roast pork and halloumi skewers.
In Ruscote, a local ceremony and a marquee reception is a lovely, personal choice. We roast outside, well clear of the marquee. Let us know about access. Our chef carves in front of your guests, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp.

What else we do in Ruscote
Why choose a hog roast in Ruscote?
Compared with a cold evening buffet, hot rolls carved to order go down much better. The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, plus travel and access. There’s no one-size price, so we quote each one individually.
What you get with us
- Served at the time you choose
- All the equipment comes with us
- The classics: stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
- Roasted on site, slowly, for hours

Should I cook it myself?
Catered or DIY? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.
The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.
Looking after everyone
Standard rolls and stuffing contain gluten, so ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them. Other tips:
- Give final numbers in good time
- Pass numbers for vegetarians and vegans to us
- Request gluten-free rolls if needed
- Share the menu with your venue coordinator
You won’t have to think about the food. We roast through the afternoon and carve at the agreed time.
Salads, new potatoes and roast potatoes make a full wedding breakfast.
How we price a hog roast for your wedding
Each price is built from:
- Plates or china
- The number of people
- Which meats and sides you choose
- Site access
Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.
Details that help
Here’s what we’ll ask:
- The venue or postcode
- Any dietary needs or allergies
- Roughly how many people
- What the outdoor space is like
For a quote, send us a few details: the date and serving time, the venue or OX16 postcode, rough numbers and which extras you’d like. Use our quote form.
What the cooking area needs
A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, and a little planning goes a long way:
- Flat ground outside the reception for the roaster
- A way in for the roaster
- A short walk from the serving station to the guests
Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly.

Ruscote questions
Could you cook in People's Park?
Only with permission from the park’s owner, normally the council, and many parks do not allow cooking. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.
How far is Ruscote from London?
About 67 miles from central London, and we cover it as standard.
How soon do you get booked up?
As early as you can for summer weekends and December. Quieter dates can frequently be booked at shorter notice. Ask and we will check.
Can we hire the machine and cook it ourselves?
We do, if you are happy to roast and carve yourself. We will explain the details with your quote.
What happens in bad weather?
Rain does not stop the cooking. Somewhere covered for people to eat helps.
Is crockery included?
Plates are included. You can upgrade to china if you prefer.
Will there be enough to go round?
We plan quantities from the numbers you give us, and we will confirm everything in writing.
Do you need power or water?
The roaster runs on gas, so we do not need mains power to cook. Power can help with lighting after dark.
The menu, dish by dish
Spit-roast lamb
Lamb roasted on the spit is a lovely alternative to pork, especially for guests who do not eat pork.
Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)
Some guests will be vegetarian, so halloumi and vegetable skewers ensure they’re not left with just salad.
How it works
We work to your timings. If things run late, a cooked roast can be kept hot for a while, so tell us as soon as plans change. For a summer wedding in Ruscote, the sun sets at about 9:30pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so evening food is frequently carved in daylight in June and July. For autumn and winter weddings, when it is dark by about 3:55pm in December, plan lighting at the carving station.
- Tell us your date, venue and numbers.
- We confirm the date and the venue and send a price.
- We fit timings around your running order.
- We roast during the day, then carve at the agreed time.
- We serve, tidy up and slip away.
Preparing for the day
- Think about shelter for your guests
- Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance
- Confirm numbers ahead of the day

The quickest way to get a price is to tell us the date, where the wedding is and roughly how many. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Fill in our quote form.
