Compared with a three-course plated meal, a hog roast wedding breakfast is relaxed and generally costs less per head. It still feels like a feast. UK price guides vary widely: roughly £10 a head for a simple roll, rising past £20 with more included. We quote every event individually, with everything listed.
What you get with us

- All the equipment comes with us
- A clear quote with everything listed
- Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it

The process
The roaster cooks outdoors, under a gazebo on level ground, well clear of walls, tents and trees. We agree exactly where before the day. At midsummer, sunset in Slindon is about 9:20pm, so we can time the carving before or after your sunset photos. Sunset is around 8:50pm in late May and 7:05pm in late September.
- You tell us your date, venue, numbers and whether it is the wedding breakfast, the evening or both.
- We check the venue and the cooking spot and send a price.
- We agree arrival, cooking spot and serving times with you and your venue.
- The hog roasts through the afternoon, and our chef carves on cue.
- Our staff clear the serving area and we leave quietly.
How to prepare
- Ensure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees

After a ceremony at a church like The Parish Church of St Mary, many couples move to a marquee or hall nearby, where the hog roast is waiting. Guests coming by rail will want to know that the closest railway station is Barnham station, roughly 2.5 miles south of the centre. With the South Downs National Park within about 5 miles, there are country venues, barns and gardens nearby. Ask your venue where a hog roast can cook. With the coast within about 6 miles, many venues here have sea views. We will plan a sheltered cooking spot.

For event organisers in Slindon
Event organisers frequently ask caterers for paperwork such as a risk assessment. Let us know what your event requires and we’ll confirm what we can provide.
Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so it is worth asking first. We will work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.

Common questions in Slindon
We are gathering after a service at The Parish Church of St Mary: can you cater?
Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is usually elsewhere. Send us the address.
Can you roast near the sea around Slindon?
Yes. Wind is something we plan for: a sheltered spot and secure cover.
What do people get?
Pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling in a soft roll. Your quote lists any sides and extras.
Do we need our own staff?
You don’t need anyone else: our chef carves and our team serves and clears.
How much does a hog roast cost?
Each event is priced on its own, based on numbers, menu, service time and distance. Ask us for a quote.
Do you do evening food?
Yes. We will time it around your first dance and band.
Where does the hog roast go?
Roughly the footprint of a gazebo or two, on level ground, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging trees. We will confirm the space with your quote.
Do you need power or water?
Not to cook, because the roaster is gas-fired. Let us know what’s on site.
Full catering or machine hire?
A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is generally easier.
If you are confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You cook and carve it yourself; we will confirm what comes with it when you ask.
What we serve, dish by dish
Spit-roast lamb
Lamb on the spit roasts gently for hours, and it’s carved the same way, frequently with mint sauce.
Rolls and gluten-free rolls
Rolls or plates? Rolls are quicker; plates suit a sit-down meal, and gluten-free rolls are available on request.
- Cooked where you are, slowly, over several hours outdoors
- Carved to order by our chef, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
- Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
- Served when you’re ready, and we tidy the serving area afterwards
