FAQs for Toy's Hill
Can you do a hog roast in Stubbs Wood Country Park?
Only if the landowner, typically the council, allows it. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.
Can you get a hog roast into a London garden in Toy's Hill?
Frequently, if there is a rear gate, a front garden or a yard we can use. Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly.
Do you offer gluten-free rolls?
Ask for gluten-free rolls and we will bring them. You will get allergen details for everything.
When do you start roasting?
A whole hog roasts for several hours, which is why we arrive hours ahead. We work back from your serving time.
Is crockery included?
Plates are included. You can upgrade to china if you prefer.
What about staff who do not eat pork?
The menu has lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options. We don’t provide halal meat.
What if it rains?
The roaster is under cover, so a shower does not stop us. Your staff will want somewhere dry to eat.
Can you serve a fixed lunch break?
Tell us the numbers and the time and we’ll plan around them.
The process
The roaster cooks outdoors, under a gazebo on level ground, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches. We agree exactly where before the day. After-work summer events in Toy's Hill have light until about 9:20pm at midsummer and 8:50pm in late May, which suits a team barbecue-style evening. By late September, sunset is around 7:05pm.
- We start with the site, date, numbers and lunch break.
- We check access and the cooking area, then quote.
- We arrive in good time and start the roast under cover.
- The team carves and serves on time.
- Afterwards we clear up and go.
How to prepare
- Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
- Name a contact for the day
- Confirm numbers ahead of the day
