What affects the price in Motspur Park

Each booking is quoted on its own, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Site access
  • The journey to the venue
  • The date and time of year
  • Crockery choices

What you pay covers the meat, the chef and staff, and hours of roasting. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.

Getting an accurate quote

These are the details we need:

  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a picture
  • Allergies we should know about
  • The venue or postcode

Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many people, along with your serving time. We’ll confirm availability and send a price. Send us your details through our quote form.

For planners, venues and organisers

Many venues set rules for outside caterers, from approved lists to where a gas roaster can go. Ask early, and pass on anything they need from us.

For events on land you do not own, such as a park or field, you will need the landowner’s permission for cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.

Allergies and dietary needs

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Some ideas:

  • Ask the production office for dietary needs
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if needed
  • Keep vegetarian food labelled
  • Count crew needing an alternative

When lunch is called, we carve fast.

Ask for gluten-free rolls.

What the cooking area needs

A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, so a few things are worth checking:

  • Sign-off from the location
  • A covered eating area
  • Flat ground at the unit base

Motspur Park is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access can be tight: tell us about side or rear access, steps and parking for our vehicle.

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think.

Your questions about a hog roast for the crew in Motspur Park

Can you get a hog roast into a London garden in Motspur Park?

It depends on access: a rear gate or yard typically works. Tell us about steps, gates and parking and we will advise.

Can you do a hog roast in Beverley Park?

Only if the landowner, typically the council, allows it. Check with them first.

Can you work to the call sheet?

That is exactly how we work.

Where do you set up on a shoot?

Usually, if there’s a level, open spot for the roaster under cover. Locations will confirm the spot.

Do you offer gluten-free rolls?

Gluten-free rolls are available on request. Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen information.

Can the hog roast be cooked indoors?

It cooks outside, under a gazebo, on a level spot. The food can be carried in and served indoors where the venue allows.

How do you work out quantities?

The roast is chosen to suit how many you’re feeding, so tell us your best estimate. The quote sets it out.

Do you do wrap parties?

We do.

How it works

Slow roasting is the whole point: hours of gentle heat make the pork soft and juicy while the skin crisps into crackling. Then it rests briefly before our chef carves. On a winter shoot near Motspur Park, the light goes by about 3:55pm, so the unit base needs lighting for late service. In summer, light lasts until about 9:20pm.

  1. The production office sends us the location, dates, numbers and lunch time.
  2. We check the route and send a price.
  3. We agree where we set up and when we arrive.
  4. We roast through the morning and carve fast when lunch is called.
  5. We pack away straight after service.

Getting ready for the day

  • Think about shelter for your crew
  • Give us final numbers a week or so before
  • Check there’s a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps

Crackling

For many people, the crackling is the best bit: crisp, golden and full of flavour, straight off the hog.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Some crew will be vegetarian, and halloumi skewers give them a proper hot option.

A hog roast compared with other options

Next to a full location catering unit, a hog roast suits single days and smaller crews. For larger numbers, a hog roast is generally good value, because one whole roast feeds plenty of people. Extras, china and longer service add to it.
