Slow-roasted pork carved to order: that is what you get when you book a hog roast in Crondall. Rolls, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling come as standard, and you can add sides and other meats. Popular choices include rotisserie chicken, halloumi skewers and coleslaw, and we are often booked for weddings and receptions and village fêtes and school fairs.

In a hamlet or village like Crondall, a farmyard or a neighbour’s field can make a good cooking spot. Mention gates and soft ground when you contact us. Let us know about allergies and dietary needs in advance, and we’ll tell you exactly what’s in each dish before you book.

What happens on the day

Carving is part of the show: our chef carves the pork in front of the queue, and the crackling is shared out so everyone gets some. In Crondall, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 4:00pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.

  1. You tell us the date, the address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
  2. We check availability and the space for the roaster and send a clear quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
  4. Our chef carves to order and our staff serve at the agreed time.
  5. Afterwards we clear up and leave the spot tidy.

Crondall questions

Is Crondall close to London?

Roughly 38 miles from the centre of London.

Which station is closest to Crondall?

Farnham station, about 3.3 miles south-east of the centre.

When should we book?

Popular dates go early. But do ask even at short notice: fill in our quote form.

Can you work around our timings?

We’ll be as flexible as we can. Give us a contact on the day and we will fit around changes.

What is hog roast hire?

We bring the roaster, roast the hog on site for hours, then our chef carves it and our staff serve, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling.

Do we need our own staff?

You do not need anyone else: we carve, serve and tidy up.

How long does the roast need?

It depends on the size of the hog and the weather, but it is several hours. We’ll confirm our arrival time when we quote.

Do you need power or water?

Not to cook, because the roaster is gas-fired. Tell us what’s available and we’ll plan around it.

Crondall: venues, access and local tips

Crondall is about 3 miles south of Fleet, in Surrey. We’re happy to travel to Crondall for events. We bring hog roasts to all 395 towns and villages in Surrey. Our nearest city page is Guildford, about 12 miles away.

For planners, venues and organisers

Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so it is worth asking first. We’ll work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.

Marquee suppliers generally set distances for cooking equipment, so let them know about the roaster. We’ll keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Compared with a cold buffet, a hog roast is hot, freshly carved and feels like an occasion. A buffet can sit out all afternoon. Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, along with distance and how easy the site is. There is no one-size price, which is why each one gets its own quote.

What you get with us

  • A clear quote with everything listed
  • Timed around your day
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside

Read our pricing or the cost guide.

Space, access and the venue

The roaster needs space, cover and a safe distance from anything that could catch the heat. Before booking, check:

  • A step-free route to wheel the equipment in
  • Nothing overhead that could catch the heat
  • The venue’s agreement to a gas-fired roaster

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

The menu, dish by dish

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Crunchy coleslaw suits roast pork, and salads and new potatoes work well on a plate.

Crackling

For many people, the crackling is the best bit: crisp, golden and full of flavour.

Planning for dietary needs

Rolls and stuffing normally contain gluten, and gluten-free rolls are available on request. A few more tips:

  • If anyone needs halal food, plan a separate option
  • Find out who doesn’t eat pork, and order an alternative for them
  • Request gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
  • Tell us about vegetarians and vegans for the halloumi skewers and vegan option

If timings shift, tell us: we can hold the roast for a while.

What a hog roast costs

The biggest factors are:

  • Whether you want china
  • Menu choices and extras
  • The date and time of year
  • Distance from us

Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.

Getting an accurate quote

When you get in touch, it helps to include:

  • Where the event is
  • Rough numbers
  • Anything the venue has asked for
  • The date and when you’d like to eat

A quote from us sets out the menu, timings, staffing and what’s included, so you can compare caterers fairly. Fill in our quote form.
