How our wedding hog roast works in Covent Garden

Your venue and we agree the cooking spot and timings, so on the day everything is in place. Typical bookings include farm weddings and home weddings, serving spit-roast lamb, halloumi skewers and rotisserie chicken.

Couples in Covent Garden frequently hold the reception at a local venue or at home. The roaster needs an outdoor spot under cover, away from the building, which many London venues can’t offer, so ask early. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so you are not left handing out rolls.

Your questions about a hog roast for your wedding in Covent Garden

Frequently, if there’s a rear gate, a front garden or a yard we can use. Tell us about steps, gates and parking and we’ll advise.

What’s the nearest station to Covent Garden?

London Charing Cross station, in Covent Garden itself.

Does the roaster have to be outside?

The roaster always stays outside, under cover, away from buildings and marquee walls. We can often serve indoors if the venue agrees.

It’s one of our most popular wedding bookings. Hot pork rolls are perfect late in the evening.

Do you bring plates?

We bring plates as standard. China crockery is available on request and quoted separately.

Can we just hire the roaster?

Prices and what affects them

A few things make the biggest difference to the price:

  • Season and day of the week
  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • Access to the cooking area
  • Plates or china

Travel matters for the price: we include travel in the quote, with any London charges listed. Tell us the exact address so the quote is accurate.

What we need to know

For a quick, accurate price, send us:

  • A photo of the cooking area
  • Rules from the venue or landowner
  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china
  • Dietary requirements

We price every booking individually, because numbers, menu, serving time and travel vary. Tell us about your wedding for a quote: fill in our quote form.

Working with your venue

Marquee hire companies frequently have rules about cooking near their tents, so let them know about the roaster. We will keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.

For workplace bookings, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We work to the site’s rules.

Should I cook it myself?

You could roast a hog yourself, but it’s a long day’s work, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You cook and carve it yourself; we’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

How the day works

Carving is part of the show: the hog is carved in front of your guests, with crackling for everyone who wants it. Winter weddings in Covent Garden are dark by about 3:55pm, so the route from the reception to the hog roast needs lighting.

  1. We start with your date, venue, numbers and running order.
  2. You get a check on the date and venue, and a quote.
  3. We agree arrival, cooking spot and serving times with you and your venue.
  4. The hog roasts through the afternoon, and our chef carves on cue.
  5. Our staff clear the serving area and we leave quietly.

Getting ready for the day

  • Gather dietary requirements early
  • Give us a contact number for the day
  • Think about shelter for your guests
