How our wedding hog roast works in Uxbridge

The carving station becomes a focal point: guests gather, the chef carves and the crackling disappears fast. It is food and a bit of theatre. Typical bookings include relaxed, low-key weddings and evening receptions, serving carved roast pork, new potatoes and spit-roast lamb.

A farm or garden wedding near Uxbridge suits a hog roast. We need level ground, cover and a way in. Tell us about dietary needs and allergies when you enquire, and we’ll give you the allergen information for every dish.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Tips:

  • Give your coordinator the final menu
  • Note which guests don’t eat pork, so we can add lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Put a dietary question on the invitation
  • Pass numbers for vegetarians and vegans to us

We will liaise with your venue coordinator, so we can sort the cooking spot and timings with them.

Some couples add lights around the serving area.

The process

We get there well ahead of service, because a whole hog takes hours to roast. The smell generally brings people over long before we carve. In Uxbridge, evening wedding food frequently coincides with dusk: sunset is around 8:55pm in late May, 9:25pm at midsummer and 7:05pm in late September. Festoon lights by the carving station look lovely in the photos.

  1. Share your date, venue, numbers and which meal you’d like.
  2. We check the venue and the cooking spot and send a price.
  3. Timings and the cooking spot are agreed with you and the venue coordinator.
  4. We roast during the ceremony and drinks, then carve at the agreed time.
  5. We clear away once everyone has eaten.

How to prepare

  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day
  • Check there is a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps
  • Ensure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees

Questions from Uxbridge

We are gathering after a service at Church of St Andrew: can you cater?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Food is typically served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

Is Uxbridge close to London?

About 17 miles from central London.

What’s the price?

Numbers, menu and travel decide the price. Send us the details and we will quote.

Who serves?

You do not need anyone else: our chef carves and our team serves and clears.

How far ahead should we book?

Summer Saturdays and December book up first. Quieter dates can frequently be booked at shorter notice. Ask and we will check.

Can we offer lamb too?

Add lamb or rotisserie chicken as a second option.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

It cooks outside, under a gazebo, on a level spot. Serving indoors is usually fine if the venue is happy.

Is a hog roast OK for a sit-down meal?

Of course: carved pork on plates with sides, and our staff serve your guests.

What the cooking area needs

A good cooking spot makes the day run smoothly. Look for:

  • Lighting for evening service
  • Flat ground outside the reception for the roaster
  • Serving inside the marquee or barn if allowed

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What a hog roast costs

Here’s what affects the price:

  • The date and time of year
  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • Menu choices and extras
  • Numbers

Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so we list each one in the quote. A simple menu keeps the cost down.

Getting an accurate quote

When you get in touch, please mention:

  • Anything the venue has asked for
  • The address or postcode
  • Allergies we should know about
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a picture

We need a few details to quote: the date and serving time, the venue or UB8 postcode, rough numbers and which extras you’d like. Use our quote form.

What comes off the roaster

Crackling

Good crackling needs time and heat, and a whole hog roasted slowly gets it just right.

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Coleslaw is the natural partner for a pork roll, while salads and potatoes make a plated meal.

  • Roasted slowly at your venue, outdoors and under cover
  • Carved to order by our chef, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Options beyond pork, including lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes
  • Our team serves at your chosen time and clears up afterwards
